Thanks guys for your help!

Windows Security Center??computer

2k3 is your problem. Windows will not pick up on a/v older than a few months to what your system clock is. 2k3 is WAY WAY WAY out of date. Toss norton and get AVAST or AVG (google and ye shall find) both are free and both do a damn fine job.

I have had to completely reinstall my operating system due to a virus...ugh. But I am pretty much updating every application and driver, however my hp pavilion dv4150us notebook (xp pro sp2)seems to have alot of processes running in the task manager and folders/files that I don't know if I need? Maybe malware/spyware/virus? I have ran my norton antivirus numerous times, but nothing...Does anyone know of a good helpful free website (not microsoft) where I can find out what these files and drivers are for so I can delete the unnessary ones? Also if i have norton systemworks premier installed on my computer should I continue to have Windows Firewall on? Oh and What does microsoft.net framework do? Do I need this? And what does the group policy setting "NT Authority" for? Oh...and could anyone tell me why whenever I open or try to install ANYTHING i get a popup from norton saying "waiting ons system can of C:\....* but it has symbols and $'s in the path???

the one you refer to, is bad, in that firewall alert pops ups and wants user to install, best to say no, and use personal anti virus scan and anti-spyware to remove its related spyware files,

Any sugestions on how to make my Laptop run faster?

I bought this Acer Laptop and it has 40G's of HD and 256M's RAM

1.46GHz. I downloaded a antivirus and spyware program and some other programs and have about 52% free space on my C: drive which has 20Gigs D drive has 20. Should I go ahead and buy an additonal memory (256)?...

Any sugestions on how to make my Laptop run faster?ducati

There are two things you can do to speed things up. First, get as much memory as you can afford. Why? Because when you're working or playing games, information is being stored for easy access. Your RAM (random access memory) is the first place the information goes, When you run out of RAM, any additional information is stored on your hard drive in virtual memory. RAM is electronic, a hard drive spins and is mechanical. Therefore, retrieving info from RAM is faster than retrieving it from the hard drive.

The second thing you should do on a regular basis is Disk Cleanup and Defrag.

Click start %26gt; programs %26gt; accessories %26gt; system tools and you will see both options. Do the Disk Cleanup first. After it analyzes your system, checkmark everything and run it. Be patient, it could take a while. After the Disk Cleanup is finished, do the Defrag. This could take a few hours depending on when you last did a defrag.

Of course, you should also have a current antivirus and antispyware on your computer. Make sure you actually use them.

Computer virus?

I have the EZ Antivirus program on my computer but it only tells me what files are infected and it doesn't delete them, what do i do? I thought a Antivirus program was suppose to prevent them, thats the whole reason i installed it. should i just ignore it or install a new Antivirus program, if i should get a new one, which one and one that is for free. Is there any other way to delete them without installing anything if its possible? Thanks you.

Computer virus?free adware remover

Install new software.

I believe you'd be better off installing a different Antivirus Software like "Avast!" which is free. Be sure to also have a Spyware program like "Spybot - Search and Destroy" which is also free.

Another way to delete them is to do it the long way. Find how to delete the different types of viruses, locate the viruses and go on a deleting frenzy. Or you could try your luck like some Information Technology Teachers I have studied under.

Computer virus?internet security 2006

don't open them, disinfect don't delete
Remove it and Install a better AVG. Try this for 30 Days.:
