Im thinking of buying a macbook for university i was wondering are macbooks good i need to know because im probably going to be buying it in the next few days.

Macbooks are great ! They are fast, noiseless and they have a pretty good design. They don't need anti-virus because they don't get virus, but if you want to get it protected, you can dowload free software from www.macupdate.com. you'll never regret it!

White one can get dirty and scratched VERY easily, if that kind of thing matters to you.
I have no real personal experience with Mac products; however my daughter (a professional screen writer) and a recent convert to Mac has had nothing but great things to say about it. Her raves have been so high that I am going to buy a new Intel Mac as my next computer.

The Intel Macs can run Windows as well as OS X, this will make my transition easier and I won't have to re-purchase all my Windows programs for Mac versions. Best of both worlds.

As far as anti virus programs.............not required as long as you are only running Mac's OS X because nobody is writing viruses to attack Macs as yet.

For wayno, I got a 1.2ghz amd duron processor and I got 768mbddr, it plays every game they got out without crashes. And xpsp2home. But your computer is worth about 250 maybe. Sell it on ebay. You may make mucho bucks.

And I have an ATI Radeon Xtasy 9200 series 128mb graphics card.
Yeah...same as above...200-300...1.8 Ghz isn't going to get you very far with new games or applications...same with the DDR Ram...200 GB hard drive is fairly decent...graphics card would have to be updated for gaming...

You should use an antivirus program and antispyware software, because your computer is now infected with viruses and/or spyware.

hi, perhaps you can try Norton to remove the virus and protect your PC. but you need to pay for the software

i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can disable all virus to run, because the virus can only run on IE.

besides, firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.

firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.

Regarding the antivirus part, there are various options. Just put search string antivirus in any search engine and you will get hundreds of options. Some are even free like AVG.

You need some anti-spyware. These 2 are good ad-aware and spybot they are both free, you can get these at www.download.com
No and you can probably do away with the firewall as well, if you have a router between you and your internet connection that is the best firewall system as it completly hides your computer from the internet.

A software firewall when behind a router will only protect your computer from other computers on your local network, assuming they are all maintained properly the software firewall will only slow your system down and provide nothing for you, it's kinda like putting two condoms on or two bandaids over one wound.
Vista come with Norton 360 i believe.

Donot trust Avast alone. I am not sure if Kaspersky works on Vista, But Kaspersky is definitely better than Avast. I used both and found far better results with Kaspersky. If you want to use Avast still, use Kaspersky Anti-Hacker instead of Zone-Alarm.
Never use more than one of each type, I would suggest you also download an anti-spyware scanning programme and use it regularly.

i really like norton because it has a very good firewall. i've never tried panda or onecare or fsecure. i have used the ca antivirus that comes with sbc yahoo protection, and it's not that great so i'm afraid to use their internet security protection.

Last year my computer was very slow and a co-worker helped me and said it was a spyware, but he installed a windows xp professional not licensed. Now my computer is very slow and doesn't start at all. The only way I can make it to run is on safe mode with network. I think part of the problem is the unlicensed windows. I also run CA antivirus which is free with Time warner but it took 1 day to finish scaning and it turn off itself. please help me

you can get an external harddrive or something simmilar to back up all your files/music/videos/games ext. and do a destructive recovery on your pc. it will restore it to the settings of when you first bought your pc. it will take you a few hours to get all your updates back, then put your files back on from external hard drive. hope this helps\

i use adaware for adware and spybot for spyware. both are free downloads off download.com and are good.

also useing window washer once a week helps wonders, its also a free d-load

it is most likely that microsoft have found out that you have a unlicenced version and blocked full funtionalty in a bid to get you to get a licenced version if i may say so i think you should get a licenced version before they take you to court for theft
