Im having the only problem with my desktop and its driving me mad sum1 pls help!!!!!?

i keep getting a popup that says system warning about all these viruses i downloaded google and they had a nortons antivirus downloaded included in the package but it was the only thing that wasnt installed anybody know why that is and how can i get nortons to work for me or suggest an inexpensive reputable antivirus software that i can purchase without having to buy it online or direct me to the site that they have on ares which will allow me to download it free

i was getting that junk soo much that i switched my browser from IE to Mozilla Firefox and my cpu is doing a lot better now!

Go to Grisoft and get their Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware programs downloaded from this link: http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5627/lng/us/... Put them in your Documents file then open each up and install them one at a time and run their scans one at a time and they should show you what you have. You need to remove the viruses and any worms that show up. It will take a little while, but patience is a virtue. Anti-virus will also run a scan daily, mine runs when I'm asleep. These are good programs.

Maybe you aren't using it correctly. I have had numerous tech guys tell me that AVG is the best free version out there for anti-virus.

Try booting your computer into Safe mode, then run AVG again. Sometimes it can't heal a file because it was actively loaded into the operating system and is in use...Safe mode should allow it to be deleted. If that doesn't work, at least it will tell you the path where the infected file is located, so you can manually quarantine it.

I personally use symantic antivirus and spybot search and destroy. symantic isnt the very best, but it works fine. spybot search and destroy is really good. it finds things every time i scan my computer. my only problem is it laggs while scanning so i can't go on the internet while scanning. other than that my computer is running fine and smoothly.
I would prefer you Bit Defender (anti virus) and Ad Aware ( anti spyware) but remember your computer is not totally protected but applying this things is the effort to prevent virus/spam/spyware but all that I stated above is the best in the world

This can vary in different reasons, such as installing Active X Control. If you haven't installed this, you may look at the top of your screen -- in your information bar, and it will say "Click, to install Active X Controls."

If you have a pop-up blocker, it could be blocking the pop-up. If so, you can change your settings and make it where you can recieve pop-ups from "www.download.com" Or temporarily allow pop-ups, until you can download it. Then, you can change your settings back to the way they were before.

If neither of these things work, then there is a problem with the website and the particular download. You could contact the website, and let them know the download isn't working -- and they should fix it.

ZoneAlarm and Avira AntiVir - confused please help?

I have a free version of ZoneAlarm running on my computer. I did have Avira AntiVir PersonalEdition downloaded but since I installed ZoneAlarm I get a warning box flashing up that AntiVir cannot be found or has been modified or destroyed. I am unable to remove the AntiVir software from my control panel Add/Remove but it is still listed on there. My Zonealarm tells me that I do not have an antivirus software installed though my windows security centre tells me that I do. How can I remove Avira successfully and what antivirus program should I install that will be compliant with ZoneAlarm?

Anti-Vir should work fine with your ZA firewall. I have used that pair before.

I would download Anti-Vir again, install it, and then you should be able to uninstall it with success.

Up your system memory to 512 at least. Win XP is some what of a memory hog and if you don't have a dedicated video card with its own memory, then your system has to share what you already have. Check with your PC vendor if you don't know what type of memory your system will take or how much. Shoot for 1 Gig if you can.

I'm having a brand new laptop shipped to me in a couple of days. However, I need to invest in a good, reliable, up-to-date antivirus software.

I don't mind paying a good $50 if it's worth it. I'm not looking for a free fix. I'm looking for something both dependable and up-to-date.

I've had bad experiences with both Norton and Macafee, and I'm looking to try something new.
